Since 2008 Claudie de Cleen and I have been producing ‘DAT drawings’, where ‘DAT’ stands for ‘drawing apart together’. Two years later Corinne Bonsma joined us, since that time the three of us form the core of DAT drawings. Now and then we invite other artists like Merijn Hos, Thé Tjong-Khing, and Dick of Helen Frik to join us for some time.
Half-finished or incomplete drawings are sent from one to the other, following which the recipient continues with the drawing.
Sometimes the drawing is finished at this stage, other times it is sent back and forth several times before it can be marked either as ‘finished’ or as a ‘failed attempt’. The drawings shown here are a selection of the drawings which we have produced togheter over the past two years.
